Abstract

Organizational climate is defined as the shared meaning that members of an organization attribute to events, policies, and practices, and it reflects the characteristics of the organization and the perceptions of its members. This study aims to design an instrument to measure organizational climate (TCO-99). The TCO-99 contains 99 questions and nine dimensions. It was evaluated using a sample of 87 people from a Colombian public institution, and convergent validity was tested with a reference scale. From a psychometric perspective, the test is reliable with adequate Cronbach's alpha values. Similarly, the significant and positive correlations between the dimensions of the TCO-99 and the reference scale demonstrate convergent validity. The application of the test to companies in Nicaragua and Mexico revealed that well-being, business efficiency, and rewards were the worst-rated dimensions in all three companies, while leadership received the most positive rating. It was suggested to implement action plans to improve employee well-being, which could improve productivity and overall performance. It is concluded that the TCO-99 is a reliable and valid tool for measuring organizational climate, and its application can help organizations identify areas for improvement and implement strategies for a more positive work environment.
